I’ve had this laptop for 8 months now and simply put. My finger is constantly brushing the TouchBar’s oddly positioned ESCAPE key resulting in lost work. The butterfly keyboard mechanism started squeaking after only 4 months. I spent almost $5k on this piece of crap. That laptop lasted 7 years!! I wish I had never bought this new machine. I often look up to see my battery is at 5% because the power cord has wiggled loose about 1mm and the machine is no longer charging. My hard drives disconnect if I breathe on the cable too hard.

The USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port on the New Macbook Pro is horrible. This design decision is a disaster since the port is also used by harddrives. I suspect that since they tossed the magsafe port, they attempted to make a port that fits loosely enough that should you trip on the cord, the cord will come out easily. I can’t believe Apple didn’t make these ports without any sort of locking mechanism. Give feedback if you take it in and they actually have made it better. Taking it to a center was an all day thing in my area and I don't have time right now to do it again. I guess I will have to put a rubber band on it to keep expensive hyper drive adapter attached to my expensive $2500.00 MacBook Pro. As the person below said I think they have a cheap part problem and really aren't fixing the problem. It has a totally different feel on left side than right side. If you take it in and they say they fixed it make sure you take you adapters and connectors with you so you can test it and don't let them tell you it's working properly. I still get my external monitor and external hard drive disconnecting randomly. I really didn't notice a difference in how the adapter or Apple USB-C connectors snapped into unit but they assured me that it fit properly. Went back in within two days to pick up and they said they replaced the power unit. Took it into Apple Center, they sent it out for repair.

So I'm remaining optimistic about recovering my files and possibly fixing it once more, even if it is on its last legs.I had the same problem on left side of my 2017 MacBook Pro 15" I purchased in September. That is, it got stuck on the boot screen, however I managed to fix it in single user mode but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it. Also I forgot to mention that something similar has happened to me before a couple years back. If anyone has any clue as to what's going on, it would much appreciated. I know this is a lot of information but I don't know where else to turn to. In the times the volume does boot up mounted, I've tried to copy the image of the volume on a 2TB external HDD in which case it gives an error. Here's what happens when I try to repair:Ĥ. Here's what it looks like when itsĬlearly my files are still on the hard drive as I had exactly 200gb worth of files. I don't know if it has something to do with the commands I've been fiddling around with in Single user mode or whatnot. It's really a hit and miss whenever it shows up as mounted. And other times I'm able to click on it andĪppears to be mounted. Sometimes the volume is grayed out when I start up disk utility, and says its unmounted. I was able to boot into recovery mode by holding command + R at startup. And when I tried to browse my 'Downloads' folder, nothing was in there besides the 'AboutDownloads.pdf'.ģ. Here, the first thing I noticed was that 'Desktop' wasn't there, which is where 90% of my files are. When browsing the volume in single user mode, I cannot see any of my personal files as shown in the photo: The first thing I notice was that my volume that was called 'Macintosh HD' was now called 'Untitled' for some odd reason, and also fails to repair the volume.Ģ. I've started it up in single user mode, tried the fsck -fy command in which case it says this: I've searched online for the last couple days and tried a few things:ġ. The loading bar would show, fill up quarter way, disappear, and then nothing but the apple logo. Anyhow, this time when I tried to turn my macbook back on, it would get stuck on the start screen.

But I was always able to turn my mac back on and continue using it. It usually happens when I suddenly nudge my mac or lift it up or place it down. As I was browsing, my Macbook suddenly froze with a fuzzy looking screen. Everything was fine, I could log into my user account to grab a few documents from school that I needed. I recently turned on my Macbook Pro a few days ago for the first time in about 3 months or so (early 2011 MacBook Pro running Yosemite i think.).
